Sharp features encased in a dusky bronze exterior form the image of one of the God-King's priestesses. High cheekbones coupled with a severely angled chin give her visage the appearance of being chiseled harshly from stone and receiving none of the gentle smoothed features most Varati women take for granted. Her eyes, rimmed with an ebon kohl to accentuate them further, glimmer with flecks of warm copper within the depths of her dark gaze, but rarely is any true warmth delivered from that gaze. As to the other features of her face, her nose is almost hawkish, presiding over the only feature that bears any softness in it's construction; her wine-tinted lips.
No veil obstructs the flow of her thick tresses past her shoulders. Like the fire of her people, her hair shines like cooling lava, deep rich obsidian coloring highlighted with a crimson-mahogany shimmer, perhaps the only part of her that might be considered beautiful. These waves are not left unattended. Gold clasps crafted into the shapes of dancing flames and set with rubies draw her hair tightly away from her face and force it into a narrow channel down her back.
A crimson robe flows over her elongated form, instantly marking her as a member of the Atarvani and for those more knowledgeable on such things, the markings woven into it denote her as Akhund. Embroidered flames further decorate the dark red material of the priestess' robe, surrounding her in the image of the fire of the Amir-al. Beneath the robe she wears a simple kamiz, dyed the same crimson as her robe, but without the embroidered adornment.
Casting Call: Angie Harmon
Even I as I was creating the character of Sabirah I knew Angie Harmon was going to be her casting call. I've been a fan of Law and Order for years and I really like the strong-willed and determined Abby that Angie plays on the show. Like Sabirah, she exists in a world dominated by men and asserts herself wonderfully. Unlike Sabirah, however, Angie is quite beautiful, though she possesses the wonderful sharp cheekbones that Sabi has. Angie is a touch too fair-skinned to play a dusky Varati, but overall she'll do nicely. There had been, for a few moments, another actress I had considered for this casting call and that's Angelica Huston. In fact, her acting style would be perfect for Sabirah, but sadly she's a bit too old for the part. Below are a few pictures of Angie that I've found that remind me of Sabirah, though please excuse the clothing, Sabirah wouldn't be caught dead in anything not Atarvani red.
